Fine Art Conservation and Restoration

The ARTEX Conservation Laboratory provides a full range of art restoration and Conservation Services either with our in house staff or in consultation with outside specialists. In operation since May 1999 in our Landover, Maryland facility, the laboratory has been designed and equipped to provide state-of-the-art space and equipment for full-service examination and treatment of works of art.

The ARTEX Conservation & Restoration Laboratory is managed by Barbara A. Ramsay, a conservator with over 28 years of painting conservation and art conservation management experience. Ms. Ramsay was formerly Senior Conservator of Fine Art at the National Gallery of Canada. Certified as a Professional Conservator of Paintings and Wallpaintings by the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators, Barbara Ramsay is also a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation and a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation.

Peter R. Nelsen is another in-house staff conservators at ARTEX. Mr. Nelson has practiced painting conservation for over 30 years and has treated works in numerous museums, government and private collections. Both are Professional Associate members of the American Institute for Conservation.
